Day Two in Hawaii

Maui - Iao Valley

We drove to this park on the way up to Iao Valley. This park had houses and traditional displays of all the traditional Hawaiian cultures as well as Japanese and Filo. It was very beautiful. Then we drove up to Iao Valley. We climbed these stairs which lead to this lookout. To my surprise, we then jumped the fence and started on our hike. The hike was insane. Uphill the whole time with sometimes having to use ours hands to pull ourselves up. On the way we picked Guava, strawberry guarva, coffee beans, strawberries and rasberries. All were so good. We finally reached the top. It was a spectacular view. Then the trail back down was just as hard. Slipping and sliding. I stacked it twice. Some people slid down on their butts. It was so hard, but it felt really good at the end. We then went swimming in a freshwater creek. It was refreshing, cold and had natural waterfalls which you could sit in front of and it felt like a spa. After we got back to the hostel, David, Ken and I went to get something to eat. We went to a Vietnamese restaurant and ate stacks and stacks of food. We ordered a whole fish plus all these other things. Ken and I both dared each other to eat the fishes eyes. After dinner Ken and I went to watch the sunset on some beach and then went to this place called Hidden Beach. It is so tiny and actually hidden behind this brick wall. The water was amazing there. Beautiful and clear. It was such a nice night also. We saw the international space station in orbit as the night sky was so clear. After our late night swim, we had desert at this fancy place called Buzz's Wharf. Let me just say that Papaya Pie is amazing.P1010202.jpg
